Golden, BC has no shortage of breathtaking wedding locations, but Hillside Lodge holds a special place in my heart. Nestled in the lush Blaeberry Valley, it’s one of the most laid-back and naturally beautiful venues in the Rockies—and it was the perfect choice for Ashley and Bryan’s heartfelt wedding day.
These two are the kind of couple you feel lucky to work with. When the pandemic upended their original wedding plans, they handled it with so much grace. They pivoted to a more intimate celebration, and Hillside Lodge was an obvious fit—not just for its outdoor ceremony space and cozy on-site cabins, but for its flexibility, beauty, and warmth.
Ashley and her girls got ready in one of the charming log cabins, while Bryan prepped nearby with their family and friends. The day was calm, grounded, and full of anticipation. There’s something extra meaningful about weddings that come together after unexpected change—it sharpens the focus on what matters most: being surrounded by the people who’ve walked alongside you.
Their ceremony took place facing the Blaeberry River in one of the most stunning forest settings with mountain views. No frills—just nature, emotion, and connection. Their young boys were there, along with their closest friends and family, making the moment even more special.
After the ceremony, we ventured out for portraits in some of my favourite spots in the valley. Waterfalls, wide-open fields, towering trees—it’s the kind of scenery that makes my work here in Golden feel like the best job in the world. We captured images that were both epic and deeply personal, highlighting their bond while showcasing the natural beauty of the day.
As a wedding photographer (and videographer) based here in Golden BC, days like these remind me why I do this work. Ashley and Bryan’s wedding wasn’t just beautiful—it was meaningful. It was proof that when you keep the focus on love, everything else falls into place.
